This position will bridge the gap between science, applications, marketing, and sales. In this role the Instrumentation Segment Manager is responsible for developing marketing programs that support the use of Quantachrome Instrumentation from an applications perspective. They will draw upon their personal scientific knowledge of the technology, use, and applications of Quantachrome Instrumentation to develop compelling value propositions to Quantachrome customers validating the benefits of purchasing Quantachrome Instrumentation. They will be able to communicate technically on an application level with customers, while at the same time drawing upon a strong technical understanding of technology of the products. All activities are aimed at increasing Quantachromes market share in existing markets, and assisting to develop strong marketing and sales programs to reach new markets and applications. This position will report to the Director of Business Development.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and leverage an in-depth understanding of customer needs within the user application segments for assigned products.
Utilize scientific and industrial expertise to develop marketing materials that communicate the technology benefits Quantachromes products provide for specific material characterization applications such as catalyst, energy, fuel, and carbon.
Understand needs of core customers as well as emerging customers who have the potential for future growth within assigned applications.
To present themselves as an accomplished scientific peer to customers, while having the ability to concurrently wear a commercial hat and understand their ultimate job is to facilitate the conclusion of sales.
Drawing upon personal scientific knowledge, combined with customer research, to be able to analyze existing performance gaps in software and equipment, as well as potential unmet needs not addressed by current software and equipment.
Develop seminars, and webinars and travel both domestically and internationally to give technical seminars to focus customer groups in specific applications.
Travel both domestically and internationally is required (estimated maximum 30% of time).
Minimum of a M.S. degree in the material sciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field of study. Advanced degrees (MBA/ PHD) preferred.
Minimum 3 years professional experience, within the following industry areas: Pharmaceutical, Fuel, Energy, Catalyst, MOF (Metal Organic Frameworks), Zeolites, Fine Chemicals or other related fields that utilize materials characterization instrumentation.
Direct knowledge and use of Quantachromes technologies of gas sorption and surface area analysis is desired.
Demonstrated competencies in technical marketing, product management, project management, business development, market development or marketing communications will be considered favorably. Barring direct commercial experience candidate should have a strong desire to utilize their strong technical background to operate within the commercial realm of bringing technological products to market to meet existing and future needs of Quantachromes customers.
